Eri Sáli poetically conveys Daniel Steegmann Mangrané's attention to nature and his taste for the living in its most delicate appearances.
The handmade leaf reproduces a leaf eaten by insects found by the artist in the Brazilian rainforest. Half sculpted by the artist, half by the little beast, they resemble a vegetal lace. While all leaves share size and shape there’s delicate variations from one to another due to the effects of oxidation.
The title Eri Sáli, written in the Amerindian language Tupi Guaraní, is very polysemous: Eri is a leaf. Sáli designates several forms: that of the leaf of course, but also that of a canoe, the tip of an arrow, or the female sex. Hanging in the wall this little leaf is a chant to nature and life.
